Andy Carroll is set to be out of action for a month.
As reported by the official West Ham website, Andy Carroll is set to be out of action for roughly a month through injury.
The English striker, 27, suffered an injury in the 3-1 victory over Bournemouth at the weekend. After a long sprint he pulled up, and a scan has confirmed an issue with his hamstring.
This is another blow to Carroll, who had only just returned to full fitness in recent weeks.
Having missed the start of the season, the forward then got injured in December, and was slow impressing in the following games. He scored in successive games against Southampton and Liverpool - taking his season tally to three goals - and started the Bournemouth game.
However, another injury means that Carroll will be out until the middle of February, and there is a big chance that he will again be injured later in the campaign.
Not only has this caused frustration to Carroll, but West Ham have found themselves in a poor situation due to the striker’s injury record.
With Diafra Sakho out of action as well, Slaven Bilic has to rely on Nikica Jelavic or Enner Valencia upfront. Valencia is a goal threat but is not an out-and-out striker, whilst Jelavic looks far from the quality needed for the Premier League.
Following the news, West Ham fans took to Twitter to react to Carroll’s injury, with many suggesting it is no longer a surprise to see the forward out of action.
Surprised Andy Carroll didn't get injured on A league Of Their Own last week tbh!— Kenny Lake (@sulcolake) January 14, 2016
@BBCSport Being injured is a very sad thing but I see Andy Carroll has again joined Daniel Sturridge in the most injury prone starting XI.— NigelNicholson (@NigelANicholson) January 14, 2016
