Well done #AVFC , another admin appointment with not one iota of football industry experience. Blind leading the blind.— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) January 14, 2016
The former striker, and Villa fan, was not impressed that the Midlands side would hire another staff member who has no background in football.
This is a usual criticism aimed at Villa, especially from Collymore, who is not a fan of Villa having a background team with no footballing experience.
Considering the club are in the midst of despair right now, with only a small chance of getting out of their relegation battle, Collymore believes that Villa should be hiring staff members who have a knowledge of the game.
Only people who have been in a relegation fight can get the club out of their current situation, and Hollis arrives with no background in football.
Villa’s playing squad needs strengthening this month, and it is hardly a positive move that their first signing of the January transfer window comes as a background staff member.
Collymore has made it clear this season that he is extremely disappointed with how his boyhood club are being run, and Villa are not doing anything to improve the reputation they currently have.
