HITC Sport understands Leicester City have had a bid accepted for Ghana international Daniel Amartey
Leicester City are closing in on the signing of Ghana midfielder Daniel Amartey after agreeing a fee with FC Copenhagen, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Leicester have held a long-term interest in Amartey and tried to sign the player in the summer, but the deal failed to materialise.
Amartey has impressed for club and country over the last 18 months and his performances have not gone unnoticed among clubs across Europe.
The defensive midfielder joined FC Copenhagen in the summer of 2014 and he represented Ghana at last year's Africa Cup of Nations.
Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is keen on bringing in Amartey as the 21-year-old is equally adept at playing in defence as well as in midfield.
Ranieri is determind to strengthen his side's squad during this month's transfer window as they look to maintain their surprise Premier League title challenge.
Talks are ongoing between Leicester and FC Copenhagen and the Foxes hope that Amartey will be given the green light to travel to England for talks and a medical in the next 48 hours.
