Ian Wright offers his opinion on what would’ve happened had Arsenal signed Luis Suarez

Arsenal wanted to sign Luis Suarez, now at Barcelona, from Liverpool in the summer of 2013.

Ian Wright said on the BBC 5 live 606 show on Sunday evening (January 10) that Luis Suarez would have left Arsenal for Barcelona.

Suarez left Liverpool for Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and is now widely regarded as one of the top five footballers in the world.

The Uruguay international striker could have actually moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2013.

According to ESPN, the Gunners made a bid of £40,000,001 for the 28-year-old in July 2013, but Liverpool rejected it.

Suarez almost guided the Reds to the Premier League title that season (2013-14) before leaving for Barcelona.

Arsenal legend Wright believes that the former Ajax striker would have left for Barcelona if he had been playing for the Gunners.

"How long would we have been able to keep Suarez?" said Wright the BBC 5 live 606 show on Sunday evening (January 10) during a discussion with well-known Arsenal fan Piers Morgan.

"When you look at what he is going at Barcelona now, what, we would have kept him for 18 months and what, he would have got itchy feet with us?"

Suarez scored 16 goals and created 57 chances in 27 La Liga appearances for Barcelona last season.

So far this campaign, the 28-year-old has scored 15 goals and created 23 chances in 17 La Liga games for the Blaugrana.
