HITC Sport understands that deal will be announced on Saturday

Hibernian have agreed to take former star Anthony Stokes back from Celtic for the rest of the season, HITC Sport understands.

The 27-year-old has been on the fringes of the first-team this season under Ronny Deila, and has featured just once in the league.

He has been linked with a host of English clubs, after he was made available for loan this month.

HITC Sport understands that Stokes still sees a future for himself at Celtic, a club he has scored 59 goals for since he joined them in 2010.

Stokes joined Celtic from Hibernian, where he spent just one season - finishing with other 20 goals which persuaded the Glasgow giants to snap him up.

The Republic of Ireland international is due to put pen to paper with Hibs over the weekend, but will not be signed in time to make his debut against Falkirk on Sunday.

Stokes rejected the chance to join Dundee United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle, to move back to Edinburgh.
