Alan Pardew comments on Emmanuel Adebayor interest

Chelsea, West Ham United and Watford are also reportedly interested in Emmanuel Adebayor.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has suggested to the club’s official Twitter page that he is interested in signing former Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor in the January transfer window.

Adebayor is without a club at the moment, having left Tottenham in September 2015.

“We are trying to bring a striker in, whether it's permanent or on loan,” said Pardew. “Steve (Parish) and I are working on it. Adebayor is a player that's there for somebody. It's a question of teams like ourselves asking whether we're the right fit.

"You can't dismiss anyone. You have to think of all the strikers who are available. There's a very small market for us. (Adebayor’s) in that group. Not just for us, but for plenty of Premier League clubs.”

Other interested clubs

Palace are not the only club interested in Adebayor, who is available on a free transfer this month.

According to The Times, reigning Premier League champions Chelsea are interested in the 31-year-old striker.

The Mirror recently claimed that Adebayor has held talks with Chelsea, West Ham United and Watford.

Palace are eighth in the Premier League table at the moment with 31 points from 21 matches.

The London outfit are just five points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently fourth and occupy the final Champions League spot.

The Eagles will take on Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
