The report says that the winger has a £5.5million release clause in his contract, and that a deal is expected to be concluded following talks between the two clubs.
“Watford are expected to sign Nordin Amrabat after contact was made with Malaga over the winger,” the report in the Mirror states.
The Hornets were one of the most active clubs in the transfer market last summer, bringing in a number of new players from the continent as well as appointing new boss Quique Flores Sanchez.
The gamble in making a number of changes has seemingly worked, what with the club sitting comfortably away from the Premier League’s relegation zone and looking strong.
But that hasn’t stopped the club from seeking yet more deals this month, and it appears a new attacking player is very much at the top of the club’s wish-list.
Amrabat, 28, is a tricky winger though he can also play upfront. This season, he has made 12 La Liga appearances for Malaga, including playing 77 minutes in a 0-0 draw at Real Madrid.
A Morocco international, Amrabat will provide the Vicarage Road side with yet more impetus in the final third as his dribbling ability is a real standout feature of his game.
