Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Yunus Malli of Mainz, report German outlet DerWestern.
Malli is 23-years-old and has a contract at Mainz until 2018.
He was described by Turkish-Football.com late last year as the New Mesut Ozil, likened to Arsenal's record signing.
The new Ozil, or the anti-Ozil?
While the comparison to Ozil is certainly interesting given that they play in the same attacking midfield role, Malli is in a couple of ways the anti-Ozil. The Arsenal star was eligible to play for Turkey but chose Germany, contributing to their World Cup winning campaign in 2014.
Malli is the opposite, having represented Germany up to under-21 level, he decided last year to commit his future to Turkey for who he was also eligible, and has two caps.
He is in line to feature at Euro 2016, and Tottenham would be wise to try and bid now before his value soars.
Unlike Ozil, Malli has a real eye for scoring goals, and has netted eight strikes in 17 Bundesliga games this season. Ozil has 16 league assists for Arsenal, while Malli has provided two.
