They beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Wednesday evening.
The Villa dressing room is likely to be the happiest it has been all season, after they secured their first win under the Frenchman’s leadership by beating Crystal Palace 1-0 on Wednesday evening.
That was their first triumph of the season since the opening day defeat of Bournemouth, a disastrous run which has seen them sitting bottom of the table and looking likely to be relegated.
And while the Villa stars will want to celebrate breaking that rut, Garde has warned them not to get carried away.
‘The players were very happy in the dressing room as you can imagine,” he told avfc.co.uk.
"But they can't afford to be too happy for too long because we have another very important game coming up here against Leicester.”
"Now we hope we are building something. It will be very tough against Leicester because they have quality players. It's about recovering and preparing very well for the next game."
While the win over Crystal Palace was a much-needed one for Villa, they will know that the fight is not over just yet.
They are still eight points from safety, with Swansea currently 17th on 18 points, and will need Champions League form if they are to avoid relegation this season.
Much will likely rest on how Garde fares in the transfer window, with several new faces likely to boost their hopes significantly if they can secure them.
