Liverpool secured a late 3-3 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday evening.
A thrilling Premier League encounter ended in a 3-3 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal on Wednesday evening.
The Gunners, who were looking to open their lead at the top of the Premier League table, were pegged back by Liverpool in the opening stages.
Jurgen Klopp’s gegenpressing system had the Reds overrunning Arsenal, not letting the North London side settle, and Roberto Firmino opened the scoring in the 10th minute.
Aaron Ramsey swiftly equalised, before Firmino again put Liverpool in the lead with a stunning long-range curling strike. However, Olivier Giroud brought the tie level again after 25 minutes.
The game entered the second half at 2-2, and it appeared as if Arsenal would be claiming all three points at Anfield when Giroud netted his second of the night after 55 minutes.
However, a late scramble at both ends resulted in Joe Allen scoring an equaliser in the closing stages of the game, ensuring the points were shared by both teams.
Despite Firmino stealing the headlines with his impressive performance, there was one Liverpool player who was central to the victory.
Jordan Henderson is the perfect example of a player to fit into Klopp’s high pressing system, with his energy and leadership ensuring the rest of his team follow suit.
He won three tackles, two aerial duels and completed 76% of his passes, and without someone like Henderson in the side, Klopp’s tactics would not work.
Following the game, Liverpool fans reacted on Twitter to the performance, with many highlighting Henderson’s role as being vital to the victory.
