Leicester move joint with Arsenal following a 1-0 victory over Tottenham.
The Foxes secured a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening, with Robert Huth’s header claiming all three points.
After an entertaining game, it was a poor goal for Spurs to concede, seeing as no one picked him up from the corner and offered the German centre-half a free header.
It was a game of many chances, especially for Spurs, who dominated the ball but failed to take their chances.
Huth and Wes Morgan put in a great performance in the back-line, as well as full-backs Christian Fuchs and Danny Simpson, but it was goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel who was the true hero.
He put in a top class goalkeeping display, making five saves to ensure Spurs couldn’t make their dominance count.
Despite seeing their excellent goalscoring record cool off in recent weeks, it was Leicester’s third clean sheet in a row, and showed that the Foxes are realistic title contenders.
Following the game, fans took to Twitter to show their appreciation for Schmeichel, with his excellent performance central to the victory.
Kasper Schmeichel had a brilliant game today, yet no one seems to be praising him, won them the game #LCFC— ryan cuckow (@ryancuckow) January 13, 2016
Kasper Schmeichel has been as valuable a player to #LCFC this season as Jamie Vardy. Massively underrated player.— Dominique Holmes (@domholmestattoo) January 13, 2016
Schmeichel does a 'Schmeichel' tonight, great save and game from the Big Dane! #lcfc— niny singh (@niny1976) January 13, 2016
Huge win. No magic from Mahrez or lethality from Vardy and we still beat a title contender on the road. Schmeichel for MOTM. #LCFC— Cornelius Suttree (@SethYaffo) January 13, 2016
I criticise him a fair bit, but Schmeichel is hands down my man of the match today. Morgan and Huth close. But Kasper was the dog's. #lcfc— Ingz (@CallumIngall) January 13, 2016
One clear-cut chance and four or five half-chances for Spurs is a few too many tho. Schmeichel great tonight and Leicester needed him to be.— Jordan Blackwell (@JrdnBlackwell) January 13, 2016
Great goal by Huth! Tottenham should've finished the match before half time... Schmeichel kept Leicester in the game.— ダルシャン હિરાણી (@Darshnoosh) January 13, 2016
