Leeds United boss Steve Evans pays Sheffield Wednesday a compliment, while disparaging Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town beat Leeds United 2-1 at Portman Road in midweek.

Leeds United boss Steve Evans has claimed to Radio Yorkshire that Sheffield Wednesday are a better team than Ipswich Town.

Leeds were beaten 2-1 by Ipswich in midweek, but Evans feels that his side are in for an even tougher test when they travel to Hillsborough at the weekend.

Wednesday are currently on the outskirts of the play offs, and Evans realises the scale of the task that the Whites face on Saturday.

"We go away disappointed [from the Ipswich match] and we need to get ready for Hillsborough, because I think Sheffield Wednesday are better than these," he said.

The Championship table doesn’t reflect Evans’ opinion as a correct one, at this stage.

Wednesday are currently two points and two places behind the Tractor Boys, but they are in exceptional form.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side have proven very hard to beat, after making a shaky start, and they appear to ready to pounce should anyone in the top six slip up.

Wednesday could break into the play off places if they do beat Leeds at the weekend, but Evans’ side have also been in good form of late.

The Whites defeat against Ipswich was their first in nine matches, but they are still stuck down in 15th place in the table.
