Lamine Sane's position at Bordeaux reportedly untenable with Aston Villa seeking permanent deal

Aston Villa have been heavily linked with the 28-year-old centre-back.

According to a report from French website Sud Ouest, Bordeaux centre-back Lamine Sane intentionally missed his side’s match against Lorient earlier this week as he pushes for a move to England.

The 28-year-old Senegal international has featured 11 times for Bordeaux so far this season but he was not in the squad for their most recent match as rumours persist regarding his future.

Fellow French website 20 Minutes has picked up on the claim and reports that Sane’s position at his current club is now untenable with Villa manager Remi Garde allegedly seeking to sign the player permanently rather than on loan for the rest of the campaign.

Villa could certainly do with reinforcements as they attempt to climb off the bottom of the Premier League table and ultimately out of the relegation zone altogether and Sane has the experience and the leadership qualities to make a significant impact at the Villans if he does ultimately arrive.

Bordeaux’s captain for much of his time at the club, Sane has featured 228 times for them to date, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in the process.
