It is mean, but it's also pretty damn funny
Sure, the 23-year-old kicked up a bit of a stink as he pushed for a move away from the Liberty Stadium, but there is no denying that he is very talented.
Sure, he may have failed to live up to his potential at Liverpool, but at Swansea Shelvey showed off his range of passing, his good work rate and his eye for a long-range screamer, earning himself a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad.
Now, we are convinced plenty of Newcastle fans are delighted with the signature of Shelvey as Cheick Tiote looks to be moving away from St James' Park, but a few fans decided to poke fun at the midfielder's looks.
Like you didn't know... Shelvey has gained a reputation for looking a little like Harry Potter villain Lord Voldemort. And some Newcastle fans took to Twitter to have a cheeky pop at their new signing:
Even we got involved with our own Shelvey/Voldemort #bantz.

In all seriousness, we reckon Newcastle have got themselves a great signing and he could make his Magpies debut when they take on West Ham at St James' Park on Saturday.
