Waghorn has been sensational since joining the Gers in the summer.
Former Rangers goalkeeper Andy Goram has claimed that the club's current star striker Martyn Waghorn has attributes that remind him of the Gers' all-time leading goalscorer and Goram's old teammate Ally McCoist, the Daily Record reports.
McCoist scored an incredible 355 goals during his Ibrox career, and while Waghorn is nowhere near even beginning to think about eclipsing that total, Goram believes that he has shown enough during his first few months with the club to suggest that his style of play can be put in the same category as the 53-year-old.
"He seems to have that hunger to score goals," he said, as reported by the Daily Record.
"He has that greed about him which is a McCoist thing. McCoist was the same, you're not going to get a pass off him round about the box.
"Waghorn is not going to give it to anyone if he can have a shot at goal."
McCoist's total may be out of the former Sunderland man's reach, but there is little question that he has been ruthless in front of goal since joining Mark Warburton's side in the summer.
Waghorn has scored 18 goals in just 19 league games to help the Light Blues sit top of the Scottish Championship table, three points clear of their nearest rivals.
And Warburton will be hoping that his key forward continues to be compared with the legendary striker as it will surely mean that Rangers are continuing on their path to getting back to where they feel they should be.
