Brighton and Hove Albion are used to being linked with big talents in South America recently, after their recent excursion to try and get hold of Jonathan Calleri of Boca Juniors and Emelec forward Miller Bolanos.

El Diario has reported that Brighton have made a whopping £7.3 million offer for the player this month.

Bolanos spoke about the interest to Radio Sucre in Ecuador where he is currently training with the Emelec reserve team - where he mentioned his desire to head to Europe:

"In a week we will know my future.

"They are managing several options it is waiting only a concrete, there are several teams that want my services, I am calm, the leadership told me to be quiet, they are waiting for the best deal."

Brighton are after a big signing to help them stay in the Championship promotion fight and Bolanos would be an excellent signing.

However it appears they have missed out.

Emelec have today tweeted a statement suggesting that no more players will be leaving the club - meaning Bolanos will have to stay with the club until the summer at least.

Translated that reads, "The Club Sport Emelec reports that it has officially closed its transfer book. We are grateful for your attention to this."

Bolanos is considered one of Ecuador's top talents and has scored six goals in 12 caps for La Tri has been a revelation at current club Emelec in recent years.

He has scored 61 goals in 105 games for the club and netted an impressive 36 goals in 48 games last season.
