Influential midfielder Barry Bannan has signed a new deal at Sheffield Wednesday.
Barry Bannan has pledged his long-term future to Sheffield Wednesday after signing a new three-and-a-half year contract with the club.
Bannan joined Wednesday on a one-year deal after arriving from Crystal Palace in the summer and has established himself as a key man at Hillsborough.
The Scotland international has been a standout performer for Wednesday this term and has played a key role in their push for promotion to the Premier League.
The creative midfielder has made 22 appearances so far this season and scored two goals for the Owls.
Wednesday were keen to reward Bannan for his form and impact at the club with a new long-term deal and those talks have been productive.
A number of other clubs were thought to be monitoring Bannan's situation, but Wednesday have moved quickly to secure the former Aston Villa man on fresh terms.
News of Bannan's new deal will come as a massive boost for Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal’s as he looks to build a side capable of winning promotion from the Championship.
