Leeds are interested in Celtic's Tom Rogic. Could a deal be struck?
Leeds United are interested in signing Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported this week.
The Australian international has hit form this season, and it is unsurprising he is attracting attention.
His contract expires in June 2017, and if Celtic are unable to get him to agree an extension they may be forced to consider their options.
If they are looking to get something in return, here are three Leeds players they could look to swap for Rogic as part of a deal...
A return to Scotland is a plausible option for Lee Erwin, who has failed to earn a regular place in the side since signing from Motherwell in the summer. Manager Steve Evans is reluctant to use him, while Celtic could make use of him if Anthony Stokes moves on. He netted six goals and provided eight assists in a struggling Motherwell side last season and is familiar with the division.
In recent seasons Celtic have relied upon loan deals from Manchester City and Manchester United youngsters to fill in at centre-back, while Efe Ambrose is no long-term solution. Scott Wootton has his detractors but he has been playing regularly for Leeds this season, and is capable of playing at right-back too. As a utility man his experience could be a positive for the Scottish champions.
Winger Jordan Botaka is full of tricks and skill, but he is yet to win over head coach Steve Evans. A move to Celtic, even on loan, would be beneficial if it allows him to play regularly and help him develop. The DR Congo international provided six assists at Eredivisie side Excelsior last season and could prove to be a real asset to Ronny Deila's side.
