Report: Inter Milan reject Arsenal offer for Marcelo Brozovic

The Gunners have long been credited with an interest in the midfielder.

Inter Milan have turned down an offer for midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to Sportmediaset.

The Gunners were expected to be busy during the January transfer window, with Arsene Wenger potentially looking to add new faces to boost their hopes of winning the title.

They have already completed the signing of midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel, with just work permit issues holding up that deal.

But it seems he is not the only midfielder they are keen on, with Sportmediaset claiming they have had a €16million offer, around £11.9m, turned down by Inter Milan for Brozovic.

Indeed, it seems that the Italians are holding out for €25million, around £18.7m for one of their star men, with it as yet unknown whether Arsene Wenger’s side will go to that price.

A move for the midfielder would make sense though, with central midfield having been a problem area for them in the first half of this campaign.

Injuries to Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla left them short in the position, and the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta are not long-term viable replacements.

However, it seems they are unlikely to be willing to pay nearly £20m for a back up player for the future and may search other options in this window, or in the summer.
