Sheffield Wednesday fans rave about Arsenal loanee Wellington Silva's performance against them

Arsenal loanee Wellington Silva featured for Bolton Wanderers against Sheffield Wednesday.

To Arsenal fans, Wellington Silva is very much a mystery despite signing for the club in 2010. He is currently on his sixth loan from the club and first in England, after qualifying for a work permit last year.

He has been at Bolton Wanderers all season with mixed results, as you may expect when playing for the Championship's bottom team, who have won only two games in the division all season.

Last night they were up against in form Sheffield Wednesday, who are one of the clubs linked with buying players from cash strapped Bolton, with Teamtalk last week reporting a move for Mark Davies.

Wellington is not Bolton's to sell, but he did well enough to impress last night that several Wednesday fans were calling for the winger to be signed up.

The 23-year-old Brazilian provided an assist for ex-Owl Gary Madine, who scored Bolton's first goal in the clash, but Wednesday went onto win an end to end game 3-2.

He was a handful all night, making five successful dribbles, more than double the rest of the Bolton team combined (2), and was fouled on six occasions, more than any player on the pitch.

It was the Gunners' owned youngster's ninth start of the season in the league, and his first assist, with one goal also to his name. Inconsistency is to be expected, and whether he makes it at Arsenal is another matter, but he evidently has something to his game, and more displays like this will help him get more opportunities wherever it may be long term.

Here is a look at how Wednesday fans reacted to his display...
