Report: Serie A side ready to make move for Aston Villa's outcast defender Philippe Senderos

The Swiss international has struggled to get regular football at Villa Park.

Aston Villa defender Philippe Senderos is reportedly talking to Italian club Hellas Verona over a potential switch to Italian football after a nightmare stint at Villa Park.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Swiss international is the subject of a bid from the Serie A side who are looking to strengthen their defensive unit.

He has reportedly spoken to Verona about the move and it looks likely that he will indeed be on his way this month after a miserable spell at Villa Park.

Senderos is a much maligned figure in the English game but his time at Villa, after arriving on a free transfer from Valencia last summer, has been mainly struck by injury problems.

He has not played for Villa since featuring in a 0-0 draw with West Ham back in November 2014 - meaning he has not featured for the club in well over a year.

With Senderos hopeful of a place in the Swiss national team for the Euros in France next summer he will be hoping to pick up some regular football before the end of the season.
