Report: Norwich City want £4m-rated defender Sebastian De Maio

Norwich City are keen to add to their defensive ranks in the January transfer window.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Norwich City are attempting to sign Sebastian De Maio from Genoa.

De Maio has been made available by the Serie A side and they are reportedly willing to listen to offers of around £4million.

Norwich are currently in the process of trying to negotiate a deal for the central defender, after being impressed by his performances this season.

De Maio has played 13 times for Genoa this term, but Norwich are confident of persuading him to move to Carrow Road. They do face competition from Fiorentina and Bologna for the centre back, though.

Alex Neil is known to be on the look out for defensive recruits, as he seeks to strength his side’s bid to avoid relegation.

Norwich have already snapped up Ivo Pinto in January, and they are looking to make further additions in the coming weeks.

The Canaries are currently in 15th place in the Premier League table, and they have built up a five-point advantage on the bottom three.
