Report: Newcastle United’s interest in Nicklas Bendtner denied

Newcastle are not interested in signing Nicklas Bendtner this month.

Newcastle are not interested in signing Nicklas Bendtner this month, the Chronicle reports.

Bild reported yesterday that the Magpies are keen on the former Arsenal striker, who is currently contracted with Wolfsburg.

The Danish forward was a laughing stock during his time in the Premier League, although his record with the Gunners - 47 goals in 171 games - is certainly respectable.

Still just 27-years-old, a move back to the Premier League is not out of the question for the Danish international, but Newcastle are not one of the clubs looking to bring him back to England this month.

The Magpies are looking for a new striker, but the Chronicle report indicates that the Tyneside club have absolutely no interest in Bendtner.

As a former Sunderland loanee, Newcastle fans will take this news with gleeful delight, knowing that a former Black Cat will not be wearing the famous black and white stripes any time soon.

There is no indication that any other strikers are currently being lined up as Newcastle transfer targets, despite Steve McClaren’s wish to sign a specialist forward before the close of the window at the end of this month.
