Ipswich Town fans fume at Leeds United boss Steve Evans on Twitter after his controversial post-match comments

Portman Road - Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town beat Leeds United 2-1 last night, but Steve Evans didn't feel the win was deserved.

Ipswich Town supporters appear to have been riled by Leeds United boss Steve Evans’ comments after their match last night.

Ipswich beat Leeds 2-1 at Portman Road, but Evans claimed that the Tractor Boys’ victory was undeserved.

The Whites boss said that Leeds were worthy of at least a point, as reported by the East Anglian Daily Times, but Ipswich fans disagreed.

“I think they were as bad in spells as we were, for 20 minutes we controlled the game and are unfortunate not to be two up,” Evans said.

“They looked disjointed but you know how they play, they’re always going to grind themselves into the game and launch it to Murphy and fight for second balls. It’s how they play.

“In the second half they had a lot of play but I don’t remember too many chances from them, but if you switch off you’re going to get punished.”

Supporters of the East Anglian club were quick to post retaliations of the 53-year-old boss’s comments on Twitter, with many of them pointing towards the match stats.

Ipswich had 17 shots compared to Leeds’ four attempts, although they did leave it late to to claim the victory.

Leeds had taken the lead in the first minute when Souleymane Doukara netted, but goals from Luke Chambers and Britt Pitman rescued Ipswich.

Mick McCarthy’s men’s win has lifted them up to fifth in the Championship table, while Leeds have fallen down to 15th.

Here is the best reaction from Ipswich fans to Evans’ comments after the match.
