Hooper scored twice in Wednesday’s 3-2 win against Bolton Wanderers last night, to help his side secure a vital three points.
And Carvalhal says that he is attempting to ensure that Hooper’s loan deal from Norwich City becomes a permanent one in the near future.
“We are trying to organise our house and stay with the players we have. Our chairman is doing fantastic and working on that,” Carvalhal said.
“I know Gary very well since he played at Celtic. He is doing well but I think he can do better in the future.
“He was my first choice when I arrived in England but I can’t comment on contracts because it’s in the hands of the chairman.”
The Eastern Daily Press says that Norwich are looking for a £3.5 million fee for Hooper, but Wednesday are willing to meet their asking price.
The Owls have been hugely impressed by the forward - who is starting to show his true quality at Hillsborough.
The 27-year-old failed to score in any of his first six appearances for Wednesday, but he has now netted four times in his last five outings.
Hooper’s goalscoring form has strengthened Wednesday’s bid for the play offs, with Carvalhal’s men sitting just two points outside the top six - after their win over Bolton last night.
