The basement side finally won again.
Aston Villa finally picked up their first win since the opening day of the season yesterday as they defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 at Villa Park.
Boyhood Villa fan Joleon Lescott scored with a header, although he was certainly helped by Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey. The Welshman bundled the ball over his own line as Villa finally went into double figures in terms of points this season.
The result was massive for Villa and there was no containing club legend Ian Taylor on Twitter.
Taylor was with Villa for nine years as a player, making nearly 300 appearances for the club and scoring 45 goals, before heading to Derby County in 2003.
He was simply overjoyed at the Villa result as finally the players gave fans something to smile about:

The result took Villa to 11 points this season but still relegation appears to loom for the club. They remain eight points behind Swansea City in 17th and safety with just 17 games to go this season.
Realistically Villa would need at least nine wins from their final 17 games and that looks a tall order when looking at their fixture list.
However, if they can pick up the odd win along the way at least they can say they went down swinging.
