Aston Villa picked up their second win of the season v Crystal Palace.
Aston Villa won just their second three points of the season by defeating Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening.
A second half goal from Joleon Lescott was all that separated the sides, with Palace looking abject in attack and struggling to create any real chances.
Villa had the best of the game, but were wasteful in the final third, and thankfully Lescott’s strike was enough to clinch all three points.
Remi Garde’s men remain bottom of the Premier League table, but they are slightly closer to Sunderland in 19th place, and fans will be hoping this is a start of a run of great form which drives them away from the relegation places.
One player played a key role in the victory, with Libor Kozak rewarding Garde for giving him his first start since 2013.
The tall forward was a dominating presence in the final third, winning seven aerial duels, completing two dribbles and winning two tackles. His shooting was slightly off, but his all round performance was arguably the best that any Villa striker has shown this season.
Following the game, Villa fans took to Twitter to express their delight at Kozak’s performance.
Palace hardly ad a sniff we made them look shit! Fitness was much better, pressed for 90 mins, Kozak, Ayew, Bacuna, Gill all impressed #avfc— Abbo (@abbobdog) January 13, 2016

@StanCollymore thought Kozak's touch on the ball was a bit of, lost to many on his first touch. Need a new striker.— Mathias Brandhøj (@MBrandhoej) January 13, 2016

Pleased for Libor Kozak. Luck has gone against him the last 2 years but he's behaved like a true professional and got his chance. #avfc— Scott (@scott2hot82) January 13, 2016
