Newcastle snapped up Henri Saivet on Monday evening.
Newcastle United confirmed on their official website on Monday that they have secured a deal for Bordeaux midfielder Henri Saivet.
The Magpies need reinforcements having lost each of their last four games 1-0, meaning they have scored just once in their last five matches.
Steve McClaren's men currently sit in the relegation zone, two points adrift of safety, and fans are desperate to see some new signings brought in.
Fortunately, they were handed a new arrival on Monday evening, as Newcastle confirmed the arrival of Bordeaux midfielder Henri Saivet.
The Senegal international, 25, started his career as a winger before being converted into a central midfielder by Will Sagnol, and he has reinvented his game ever since.
Now an energetic, tough-tackling midfielder, Saivet will add something to the Newcastle midfield after disappointing performances from Cheick Tiote and Vurnon Anita.
However, Magpies fans weren't quite so excited by Saivet's arrival, with many stating that they would rather see experienced Premier League players brought in.
Others were pleased with the deal, believing that he will be an improvement on Anita, and want Swansea's Jonjo Shelvey to follow him to St. James' Park.
Here are some of the reactions from unconvinced Newcastle fans after the signing of midfielder Saivet...
Saivet will bring power, and be a physical presence in the midfield. Takes a canny free kick aswell. Let's get behind him. Jonjo next #nufc— DON (@DavidDonnelly3) January 11, 2016
Not seen Saivet play. Would've preferred PL experience- but we'll give him a chance. He needs to settle in quickly. Let's hope he can! #NUFC— Coconut Mushroom (@CoconutMushroo1) January 11, 2016
So Saivet has been confirmed by the club. Wish him all the best like, but never been so unenthusiastic with an #NUFC signing. Is that wrong?— @Bristol_NUFC (@Bristol_NUFC) January 11, 2016
Don't know much about Henri Saivet, but I'm sure he'll do a better job than Anita in the middle #Nufc— Arman Mirkarimi (@Armann_M) January 11, 2016
CM was defo needed so pleased Saivet come in. Injuries over last 18 months are a concern but he needs time & run in the team. #nufc— #Dave (@DMF_86) January 11, 2016
Saivet is a good signing I feel for #NUFC. But like those who've went before him, he's not a player we really need. Promising start though.— Jonny Smith (@JonnySmithTV) January 11, 2016
Never even heard of that Saivet geezer.. When are we gonna start signing Premier League proven players. #NUFC— Dale McCaffrey (@DaleMac93) January 11, 2016
I disagree with the strategy behind the Saivet signing. Why are we gambling with so much on the line? #NUFC— Rohan Banerjee (@RBanerjee23) January 11, 2016
I like the fact Saivet is 25, a little older than our usual signings and that will help him ease into the EPL we feel #NUFC HOWAY!— GeordiesDownUnder (@ToonArmyAust) January 11, 2016
