The British newspaper claims that Leicester’s decision has come about amid sustained interest and with the youngster having just 18 months to run on a deal worth just £800 per week.
“Leicester City are poised to offer Ben Chilwell a new deal after it emerged that the Arsenal and Liverpool target earns £800 a week,” the Telegraph report.
Chilwell, a talented left-back, came through the club’s youth system and scooped Leicester’s Academy Player of the Year award at the back end of last season.
Despite not featuring so much for the first-team, he is widely regarded as one of the club’s best prospects in years and he recently enjoyed a good loan spell at Championship club Huddersfield Town.
The report goes on to list Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur among his suitors and the Premier League’s so-called big boys will be well aware of his current contract situation.
Chilwell featured for the Foxes in their recent 2-2 draw with Mauricio Pochettino’s men in the third round of the FA Cup, and he more than held his own against difficult opposition.
The Gunners and Liverpool are said to be considering bids for the 19-year-old this month, although Leicester will certainly hope to tie him down to a new deal before any possible temptation creeps in.
