Harry Winks needs to be allowed to leave Tottenham for the sake of his development.
Harry Winks is regarded as one of the brightest talents in the Tottenham academy, and the 19-year-old midfielder has already made his debut for the Lilywhites.
However, he spends the majority of his time with the Under-21s, and his performance against Chelsea on Monday evening showed that Winks is already developed above that level.
He put in a dominating performance, and he needs to be pushed to ensure his development does not falter in the coming months.
Sky Sports reported last week that Winks was not allowed to leave on loan, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to keep him at White Hart Lane for the rest of the season.
Winks does train with the senior side, but his lack of competitive football at a level which will push him is a worry, and the decision to not loan him out is a strange one.
There are already three Championship clubs interested in loaning Winks for the rest of the season, according to the Sky report, and his talent ensures he would be playing for those clubs week-in-week-out.
This would be far better for his development than spending the rest of the season in the Under-21 set-up.
Tottenham may believe keeping Winks around is the safest option for the remainder of the season, but a loan move should be sanctioned to allow the 19-year-old to leave White Hart Lane this month.
