Steve Bruce reacts to Derby County’s interest in Tom Huddlestone

Tom Huddlestone has been linked with a move from Hull to Derby County.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Steve Bruce has admitted he has no plans to sell Tom Huddlestone to Derby County this month, despite reports claiming the Rams want to bring him to the iPro Stadium.

Bruce said: “Are we really going to sell Tom Huddlestone to Derby? One of our biggest competitors at this time. There’s no chance, not even if they offered the crown jewels would I sell him to Derby at this particular moment.”

The Hull Daily Mail linked Huddlestone with a return to his former club yesterday, with the Rams hoping to bring him in this month to further strengthen their bid for promotion.

Derby already possess one of the best squads in the entire Championship, and signing Huddlestone would bring added experience, steel and talent to their midfield for the second half of the campaign.

However, Hull themselves are fighting for promotion back to the Premier League, and Bruce is not willing to sell Huddlestone to the side just one point ahead of the Tigers in the league table.

He has no intentions to let go of the 29-year-old midfielder, regardless of Derby’s offer, knowing that Huddlestone could play a key role in helping Hull get out of the division.

This season, Huddlestone has played 19 league games, scoring one goal and creating one more.
