Roberto Martinez has told the Daily Mirror that Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles has been fantastic in every appearance he has made this season.
Robles has been Everton’s first choice in cup competition this season, and he has helped the side progress to the Capital One Cup semi-finals and the FA Cup Fourth Round.
However, Martinez is set to stick with Tim Howard in between the sticks in the Premier League - as the Spaniard feels that the former Manchester United man’s knowhow is vital.
“Tim is part of the Everton badge and sometimes you forget that he’s played nearly 400 games in 10 years,” Martinez said.
“I value his experience, even more than a moment of form you can have on the pitch sometimes.
“I’m delighted with the options we have.
"Joel has been fantastic every time he’s been on the pitch and he was fantastic again in the FA Cup.”
Everton supporters have been urging Martinez to give Robles a run of games in their first team, after seeing him impress.
The former Wigan Athletic stopper has looked assured an commanding whenever he has been on the field, and he has appeared to be in better form than Howard.
The experienced American stopper has been at fault for a number of the goals Everton have conceded this season, with question marks lingering over his quality.
Howard is now 36, and there have been signs that he could be past his peak.
Everton’s next match comes against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
