Roberto Martinez has informed reporters at his press conference today that Shani Tarashaj was Everton’s number one target in the January transfer window.
Tarashaj was brought to the Toffees last week, and he was the player at the top of Martinez’s wishlist.

Tarashaj has joined Everton from Grasshoppers, after impressing during his time in Swiss football.
The 20-year-old has scored nine times in 37 appearances for Grasshoppers, and he also had an impressive hit-ratio while representing Switzerland at youth level.
Everton do not see the youngster is an immediate first team player, and they have loaned him back to his former club for the rest of the season, but they have high hopes for him in the future.
The Toffees do not appear to have to many other players lined up, given the Tarashaj’s was their main priority in January, but they have been linked with some high profile targets.
Everton are said to be interested in Andriy Yarmolenko by the Daily Mail, and his addition would be a signal of their ambition.
