According to a report on Sky Sports, Andros Townsend has told Tottenham Hotspur that he does not want a move to West Bromwich Albion in January.
Tottenham had been considering using Townsend as a makeweight in a move for Albion front man Saido Berahino, but it seems that plan will not work.
Berahino is understood to be desperate to move to Spurs, but Townsend's reluctance to move means that Mauricio Pochettino's side will have to submit a cash offer to land the front man.
Townsend has ruled out a switch to the Hawthorns, as he would battle for his place at White Hart Lane than join Tony Pulis’ men.
Townsend has not played for Tottenham since October, and he was omitted from their match day squad to face Leicester City in the FA Cup, leaving the 24-year-old’s chances of playing looking very limited.
Townsend has his heart set on a move to Newcastle United, but Steve McClaren’s men have already been busy and may no longer have room for the winger.
