Report: Southampton boss Ronald Koeman prioritising signing a striker in January

Luuk de Jong and Sebastien Haller are both reportedly wanted by Southampton in January.

According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton boss Ronald Koeman’s main position of worry in the January transfer window is up front.

Koeman is desperate to add another striker to his squad at St. Mary’s, as he feels that their current options need more support.

Graziano Pelle and Shane Long have been Southampton’s two most regular choices in the striking role this season, but neither have scored particularly prolifically.

Pelle has netted six times in 16 Premier League appearances, while Long has four league goals to his name.

With Jay Rodriguez still struggling for fitness, Southampton have a dearth of other options up front.

As a result, Koeman is keen to bring in more firepower in the coming weeks with a range of targets lined up.

The Mirror claim that Luuk de Jong and Sebastien Haller are both on Southampton’s wishlist.

As a team, Southampton have hit the back of the net 26 times in 20 matches this season.
