Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County are all said to be interested in Walsall defender Rico Henry.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County are all keen on Walsall defender Rico Henry.

The 18-year-old defender has established a reputation as one of the finest young talents in the Football League, with his performances for Walsall this season being consistently excellent.

The full-back has shown his ability going forward and defensively, and he won the Football League’s Young Player of the Month award back in September.

His performances have not gone unnoticed to higher placed sides, with a battle for his signature set to ensue in January.

Walsall are understood to be desperate to keep hold of Henry, but they realise that if big offers come in they may be powerless to resist.

Henry has already been compared to Ashley Cole by former Saddlers boss Dean Smith in the Daily Mirror, and his stock is rising by the game.

Henry’s good form has helped Walsall become one of the leading contenders for promotion in League One, but he is one of a number of their players attracting interest from higher placed teams in the January transfer window - with Romaine Sawyers and Tom Bradshaw also highly regarded.
