Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder Havard Nordtveit is considering joining Everton, report The Times.
The former Arsenal reserve captain has excelled in a defensive midfield role in the Bundesliga since joining the Gunners, but is out of contract the summer.
The Norwegian international is weighing up his options, and at Everton he could be an excellent long term replacement for Garth Barry.
The 25-year-old featured in the Champions League this season, playing twice against Manchester City, and his side are currently fourth in the Bundesliga.
Their eventual finish could play a part in making up Nordtveit's mind, with Everton unlikely to feature in the Champions League next season, this could count against them.
The Toffees do have an early chance to clinch a Europa League spot if they can win the Capital One Cup, but must win their second leg against Manchester City and potentially beat Liverpool in the final too to do so.
