Report: Cardiff agree deal for Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela

Cardiff City have been heavily linked with Bolton’s Josh Vela.

According to the Daily Mail, Cardiff City have agreed a deal to sign Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela for a fee reported at £600,000.

The British paper states that the struggling Championship side are awaiting offers for highly-rated striker Zach Clough and fellow midfielder Mark Davies, but Vela is all set to join the Welsh side.

“Cardiff City have agreed a £600,000 fee with Bolton for midfielder Josh Vela,” the report reads.

Bolton are rooted to the bottom of the Championship having won just two games all season, and their dire financial situation could see a number of their better players leave this month.

Vela has featured 14 times in the Championship for Neil Lennon’s men this season, playing in a number of different roles including as a holding midfielder.

The 22-year-old is widely regarded as one of the club’s brightest talent at the Macron, and his ability to play in a number of positions is an attribute which makes him a desirable option.

Cardiff are currently on the peripherals of the playoffs, and boss Russell Slade will be keen to strengthen his squad this month in order to make a crack at the top six.

The Bluebirds have been linked with Vela for some time, and now that a fee has been agreed between the two his switch to the Cardiff City Stadium should take place very soon.
