Report: Aston Villa will allow Gabriel Agbonlahor to leave on a free

Both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley have been credited with an interest in Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.

According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are willing to allow Gabriel Agbonlahor to leave on a free transfer.

Villa have not received any offers for Agbonlahor so far, but they will not stand in the 29-year-old’s way, should any clubs show an interest.

Both Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with the front man in the Lancashire Telegraph, but neither have made an official bid.

Burnley are keen to increase their attacking threat, while Wolves need a striker to replace Benik Afobe, after the 22-year-old completed a move to Bournemouth at the weekend.

Villa are understood to be desperate to sell Agbonlahor, who has fallen completely out of favour under Remi Garde.

The French boss has barely selected the rapid front man, and he has publicly criticised him.

Agbonalhor has been at Villa for his entire career so far, but his future at the club has never previously looked so bleak.

Agbonlahor has played 10 times for the Claret and Blues this season, but he has failed to open his goalscoring account.
