Liverpool and Manchester City are also said to be keen on the highly rated youngster.

Arsenal have made the first move to secure highly rated Schalke youngster Leroy Sane, according to Bild.

The youngster is one of the hottest properties in Europe at present, with a number of clubs thought to be looking at signing him.

But it is the Gunners that have moved first, with Bild reporting they have made an offer £20.9m to secure him ahead of their rivals.

They could find that offer swiftly rejected by the Germans though, with them not keen on selling their prize asset, who has five goals and five assists in all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are yet to make a bid, but are thought to be willing to pay a premium now to secure the youngster, and certainly have the funds available.

Liverpool are also interested, with Jurgen Klopp thought to have been a fan for several years, but so far have only had contact with the player’s agent and not made a formal offer.

All three may find their efforts fruitless though, with the report also explaining that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern are also in the chase for his signature, with the player most keen on a move to the Catalan giants.
