Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Ray Wilkins predicted on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (January 8) that Tottenham Hotspur will win against Leicester City at home in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
“I like Tottenham a lot,” said Wilkins. “I really have enjoyed watching them play. I think Pochettino has done a fantastic job.
"He is bringing in lots of young men to come in and play. They play with energy. I am going to go for a Tottenham win.”
Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has also backed Spurs to win and has written on Betvictor.com: “The Foxes are hopeful of welcoming Jamie Vardy back to the fold having missed the weekend FA Cup clash between the sides.
“Having scored in 18 successive PL games the Foxes are now without a goal in the last three in the competition although they did find the back of the Spurs’ net twice on Sunday.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Spurs to win at ¾.”
Tottenham will head into the game at White Hart Lane on the back of a 2-2 draw with Leicester at home in the third round of the FA Cup.
The North London club are in good form at the moment and will be many Premier League observers’ favourites to win against the Foxes.
Spurs are playing brilliant football and England international striker Harry Kane is firing on all cylinders.
Leicester, though, will give Mauricio Pochettino’s side a run for their money. Claudio Ranieri’s side, like Tottenham, are in the running for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
Leicester are second in the league table at the moment, while Spurs are currently fourth in the standings.
