The Sky Sports pundit has been previewing the Gunners' trip to Anfield on Wednesday night.
Paul Merson has predicted a 2-1 win for Arsenal against Liverpool on Wednesday night, according to his regular predictions column for Sky Sports.
Indeed, Arsene Wenger's men travel to Merseyside looking to maintain - or even extend - their lead at the summit of the league table but the pundit believes Liverpool will up their game against the north London side.
He does, however, feel Arsenal will have too much for the home side simply due to the injury troubles currently plaguing Jurgen Klopp's team.
Merson told Sky Sports: "I am sure Liverpool will raise their game but they are struggling to put a team out with all the injuries and I think Arsenal have to win these kind of matches if they are going to win the Premier League.
"I don't think Liverpool have got enough players at the moment and Arsenal need to win before facing Stoke and Chelsea."
A measure of Liverpool's injury crisis is the fact they have signed Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker on loan.
The 24-year-old, previously on loan at Southampton, has been off form for some time and fans are not happy with his signing. But it's simply a matter of how short the Reds are on numbers and supporters will no doubt appreciate Caulker has been signed purely for depth rather than quality.
Arsenal are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League table but, as Merson says, Liverpool tend to raise their game against the bigger teams.
