Liverpool signed Steven Caulker on loan from QPR, after a poor spell with Southampton.

Steven Caulker has been confirmed as a Liverpool player until the end of the season.
The centre-back arrives at Anfield on a loan deal for the remainder of the campaign, having cancelled his stay with Southampton to link up with the Merseyside club.
Still just 24-years-old, Caulker arrives on the back of a dreadful spell with the Saints, having managed just nine appearances for Ronald Koeman’s men.
The last appearance was in the 6-1 thrashing at the hands of the Reds in the League Cup at the beginning of December, when Jurgen Klopp’s men gave Caulker the runaround.
He looked far below the level needed for a Premier League player, and whilst leaving Southampton is not a surprise, the move to Liverpool is a huge shock.
QPR had no issue accepting the loan offer from the Reds, and with the Saints also accepting the proposal, Caulker links up with Klopp’s men for the next six months.
He is available to play against Arsenal on Wednesday evening, and is expected to fit straight into the starting XI given Liverpool’s current injury crisis in the centre of defence.
Caulker’s arrival was greeted with a mixed reaction from Liverpool fans when the deal was confirmed, with many taking to Twitter to express their feelings about the signing of a player who has never really impressed in the Premier League.
Some will say give him a chance etc but after a history of bad transfers signing a championship player is just underwhelming #LFC #Caulker

Caulker a smart move considering his BPL experience & ability to header against long balls, might just win over the fans with doubts #LFC

I don't think #lfc would have signed #Caulker, but we have injuries and no cover so it makes sense #loan #Klopp

Give Caulker a chance. At least we haven't wasted money on a lemon. We might have wasted zero on a lemon, but still give him a go #LFC

Caulker definitely not someone I wud want at #lfc but needs must right now and it's only a loan. We've spent £20milion b4 on players like hm

Anyone stating Caulker is anything but a donkey needs to sit down and review Soton 1 v LFC 6 Any movement defeats him, but he can head it

@LFC Steven Caulker. Really, is that how far we have sunk? Another average player to add to a bang average squad.

@LFC Caulker relegated with Cardiff City, then QPR.. Great signing.

I think #Caulker is a great signing on loan and Klopp isn't stupid, he got what he wanted so that's good enough for me. #LFC

He looked like the real deal at Spurs. Not sure what went wrong but let's get behind him #lfc #caulker
