Harry Redknapp reacts to Manchester United’s reported interest in Mauricio Pochettino

Manchester United have been linked with Tottenham boss Pochettino.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Harry Redknapp has shared his thoughts on Manchester United’s reported interest in Mauricio Pochettino, suggesting that the Argentine boss has no reason to leave Spurs at this moment in time.

When asked if Pochettino would join United, Redknapp said: “No, I wouldn't think he would want to leave. Tottenham’s a good club, they’ve got a fantastic training ground now, they get great support. Tottenham is one of the top club’s in the country. The manager is a great guy as well, he’s really impressed me.”

The Mirror reported over the weekend that United had lined up Pochettino as their next manager for when Louis van Gaal leaves his job.

Pochettino, who has been at Spurs since the start of last season, has worked wonders whilst in charge of the Lilywhites.

They are realistic title contenders this season, and he has them playing attractive attacking football with a young squad comprised largely of homegrown players.

This is the type of philosophy that the Red Devils want their manager to possess, and Pochettino is an obvious candidate for when Van Gaal eventually leaves Old Trafford.

However, taking Pochettino away from Spurs will not be a simple task, and Redknapp has questioned whether the Argentine boss would even want to leave White Hart Lane.

Redknapp has spoken highly of the North London club, and right now, Tottenham are a more attractive proposition than United.

Pochettino has played a key role in accelerating Tottenham’s growth into one of the best teams in England, and leaving Spurs for a struggling United is surely a backwards step for the highly-rated head coach.
