Guillem Balague says Manchester United have made bid for Saul Niguez

The Atletico Madrid midfielder has a release clause of £20 million.

The Mirror reported yesterday that Manchester United were ready to make a move for Saul Niguez.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder, according to the report, has an £18 million release clause in his contract and both teams would like to snap him up.

The same report suggested Manchester United had opened talks with Atletico Madrid for the signature of the 21-year-old Spanish talent.

Now Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has had his say on the matter.

He claims that Manchester United have made an offer for the player and that Los Colchoneros manager Diego Simeone does not want to let him go - and is not obliged to sell him for the £20 million, not £18 million, release clause in his Atletico contract.

He tweeted:

Saul has excelled in the past at Rayo Vallecano on a loan deal and is a regular for the Spanish under-21 side.

Saul has played 22 times for the club this season and scored five goals and is considered one of the best young talents in Spanish football.
