Arsenal star may wish he didn't vote for Chelsea ace in Ballon d'Or awards

Petr Cech's vote for Eden Hazard instead of Mesut Ozil looks foolish now.

The breakdown of the FIFA Ballon d'Or voting can be revealed, and Petr Cech may wish it had not been.

The Czech Republic captain was one of the privileged players from around the world to get to vote, and Cristiano Ronaldo was nowhere to be seen in his top three.

Cech's first choice was Lionel Messi, the attacker he will face in the Champions League last 16 with Arsenal - even though he has never scored past him.

Robert Lewandowski was second in Cech's voting, but it was his third selection who he may wish he could take back.

Cech selected Eden Hazard, his former Chelsea teammate, who has gone on to have a truly woeful season at Stamford Bridge.

Even in the summer it was over-optimistic to place him in a list of the top three players in the world, on current form he would get nowhere near it.

Instead Cech would have been better off voting for Arsenal teammate Mesut Ozil, who has 16 assists already in the Premier League this season, on course to break a record set by Thierry Henry.

A full breakdown of who voted for who can be viewed here.
