The Tottenham Hotspur player has been linked with West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and Watford.
Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend could well be coming to the end of his time at White Hart Lane, with the London Evening Standard linking Watford, West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United with the 24-year-old.
There are contrasting reports regarding where Townsend would prefer to go and how much Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will demand for him, but there is one big reason why whichever side does ultimately sign the player could be immediately rewarded.
Much has already been made of Townsend’s desire to be selected for England’s Euro 2016 squad, and that in itself could prompt him to play out of his skin for the second half of the campaign.
However, the winger has been excelling for Tottenham’s under-21s in recent weeks, scoring and assisting regularly and netting a brace in his latest appearance against Chelsea’s next generation.
When you consider the level he is playing at, it is no surprise the Tottenham man is impressing, but he is also showing that he could join a club on a run of form that would immediately see him hit the ground running.
Only time will tell what the next few months have in store for Townsend, and yet he is clearly doing everything he can to be ready for the next stage of his career.
