Forest have put together a decent run of form under Dougie Freedman, as after an eight-game unbeaten run in the Championship, they then beat QPR 1-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Freedman has brought in new signings already this month, but given the club's transfer embargo until the end of the season, he has been restricted to loan signings once again.
Midfielder Gary Gardner has returned from Aston Villa, whilst Villarreal left back Bojan Jokic has also signed after an injury to Daniel Pinillos.
Now, Sky Sports report that Colchester United's George Moncur is on Forest's shopping list, but they know they would have to wait until the end of the season to sign him.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who came up through the ranks with Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, has impressed with Colchester, having scored the winning goal against Preston North End on the final day of last season to keep Colchester in League One.
This term, Moncur has already hit ten goals in 28 appearances, and it's clear that Colchester will struggle to keep hold of their young prospect with interest building in his signature.
It's stated that MK Dons and Sheffield United want Moncur now, but Forest are hoping that he will stay at Colchester and become available in the summer, when their transfer embargo is lifted.
With The U's sitting in the relegation zone, it's going to be hard for them to reject bids for Moncur this month or in the summer, with Championship offers potentially on the table.
