Redknapp says Bale could win Manchester United the league this season

Gareth Bale

Harry Redknapp believes Manchester United should push to sign Gareth Bale.

Harry Redknapp has told Breathe Sport he believes Gareth Bale could win Manchester United the title this season if they sign him.

Bale's future is the constant topic of speculation despite the fact he remains a regular in the Real Madrid side.

The Red Devils are currently in fifth place in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Arsenal.

Redknapp believes the type of impact Bale would make at the club would mean this gap could be made up, and is a big believer in a player he used to manage at Tottenham Hotspur.

He said: "Gareth Bale is in the top four or five players in the world. He is an amazing talent.

"If Manchester United took him they could come close to winning the title this year. He can make that much difference.

"Bale is a match-winner. He scores goals and he can make goals. He could go and get them 16 goals or 17 goals from now until the end of the season if he went on a run and he could turn the club around. He would be an incredible signing".

United's problem is that no matter how much money they throw at Real Madrid, the Spanish side are unlikely to sell, especially after the David de Gea debacle in the summer.

The Welshman scored a hat-trick for Zinedine Zidane's side on Saturday night in the Frenchman's first game in charge, against Deportivo La Coruna, and is at the forefront of an exciting time for the La Liga giants.

Quite why he would want to swap that to play under Louis van Gaal right now would be mystery.
