Rangers boss Mark Warburton raves about Martyn Waghorn

Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn scored a hat-trick against Cowdenbeath at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has been singing the praises of Martyn Waghorn on the club’s official website.

Waghorn joined Rangers from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015 and has been in superb form so far this season.

The 25-year-old striker has been banging in the goals left, right and centre, and was on target again on Sunday afternoon.

The former Sunderland and Leicester City man scored a hat-trick against Cowdenbeath at Ibrox in Glasgow, as Rangers won the Scottish Cup fourth-round tie 5-1.

Warburton has stated that he is pleased with how things are going for Waghorn and has highlighted two of his main qualities - consistency and ability to play centre, wide right or left.

“He’s had a great run of games and his consistency is outstanding, he can play centre, wide right or left so I’m delighted for him and I think he will get stronger and stronger,” the Englishman told Rangers’ official website.

Waghorn has scored 25 goals for Rangers since joining the Scottish Championship club in the summer. The hat-trick against Scottish League One club was the former Wigan striker’s second for the Gers this season.
